At SHS Preschool, Every child is welcome

School & Partner Services

Over fifty years ago, Stonewall Head Start, Inc. (SHS, Inc.) was created to give children opportunities that were not available to them at that time. SHS remains advocating for children and their families to this day.

We Are A Non-Profit Organization

Our agency is a private non-profit corporation which operates through grants, community donations, and volunteerism. Programs include: Community Preschool and Afterschool Care, which are tuition-based, with access to tuition relief through CCS. See partners below.

  Program Benefits

Through School and Partner collaboration, we offer a wide range of resources for children and their families to receive the support they need for a successful and healthy, financially assured educational journey.

School Services

The services SHS Preschool provides in-house align with core operations, daily routines, and adhering to structured patterns of consistency. We make environments clean, safe, children feel nurtured, and we prioritize their needs.

The following services are provided by our schools:

  • We qualify children's needs for development in the most optimal learning environments.

  • We provide children with two full nutritional meals and afternoon snacks.

  • We prioritize children's health through clean and sanitary facilities, hygiene practices and clean-up routines, and sick protocols for quarantine.

  • We follow a code of conduct, centered around ethics, moral values and Christian faith. Children understand concepts through team building and personal experiences to situations.

  • We provide families with access to school and partner-provided services for tuition relief and other resources.

Partner Services

We partner with programs that supply our schools with quality foods and nutrition, allowing us to provide healthy meals and snacks for our kids, and ensure they maintain a well-fed, nutrient-rich diet, and we partner with childcare assistance programs, offering tuition relief to families in need.

Eligibility is based on family unit income and qualified through partner provider’s application process for review.

These programs are federally administered by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services (HHS), US Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), state-run Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and its regional and rural subsidiaries, Workforce Solutions.
